The Nodal Shift 1/11/25
The Dance of Destiny
On January 11th, the Nodes of the Moon shift from Aries and Libra to Pisces and Virgo, marking the start of a new 18-month cycle. This axis highlights the connection between the world of spirit (Pisces) and the world of form (Virgo).
Pisces represents the unseen, the mystical, and the miraculous—the spaces that defy explanation. It's god-stuff. Virgo, in contrast, asks us to take that grace and embody it in practical ways. It's the energy of service, dedication, devotion, and grounded action. It makes sense Pisces and Virgo are natural oppositions, each side balancing and inspiring the other. Too much of Pisces’ ethereal dreaminess can leave us ungrounded, and Virgo’s practical energy steps in to anchor us. On the other hand, an overemphasis on Virgo’s meticulous, self-focused striving can benefit from Pisces’ compassion and its reminder of a larger, interconnected purpose. Together, they remind us of the need for both inspired vision and devoted action—a harmony of spirit and matter.
The nodes, always opposite each other, reveal the challenge represented by the South Node and the required correction in the North Node. In this case, the South Node moves into Virgo, bringing shadow Virgo experiences to the forefront, while the North Node in Pisces offers the symbolic correction we need.
What does that look like? Wounded Virgo forgets its higher purpose. It becomes self-serving, ego-driven, hypocritical, and controlling. Examples? When spirituality becomes dogmatic, selfish, or greedy. Instead of being a vehicle for divine grace, shadow Virgo believes it is God. We see it in religious fundamentalism, spiritual bypassing, progaganda, and disinformation. Truth becomes rigid, self-serving, as one believes its truth is THE only truth. History bears witness to countless atrocities committed in the name of God, more than by any other force. These atrocities continue today. Wars, inquisitions, colonialism, and genocides have all been justified by rigid ideologies claiming divine sanction. Tragically, these same dynamics persist today, as dogma and disinformation fuel division and harm under the guise of righteousness.
The remedy lies in Pisces, a sign that dwells in universal truth—the kind that encompasses everyone and everything. Pisces laughs at humanity's hubris, at the notion that we've somehow unlocked the mysteries of the universe (As if?). Truth, as Pisces teaches, isn't about inflexible answers or definitive conclusions but about ongoing exploration and an openness to the infinite possibilities of existence. Pisces wisdom is not focused on our particular flavor of spiritual truth but on who we become when we believe it. Because the mystical is meant to take us deeper into questions rather than elevate us in clouds of answers.
Ultimately, this period calls us to reconnect with the universal truth of our shared humanity. It urges us to move from judgment to compassion, from illusion to clarity, and from division to unity. REAL spirituality isn't a separate, untouched realm above politics, science, or social justice—it is deeply intertwined with them. It's not about escaping the world's challenges but about touching the mystery and bringing it back to live those esteemed principles fully.
Pisces reminds us to lean into the hard work of healing, not to bypass it. It calls us to face life with grace, connection, and a willingness to serve. It asks us to show up, to name what is, and to take a stand for universal human truths.
Truth-revealing will be a key theme this year. No matter the spin, reality has a way of making itself known. We can't outrun reality- regardless of how hard we try. What arises may not be what we want to see, but it will be what we need to see.
So, expect some disillusionment. Expect truth bombs and eye-opening, really hard moments you can't unsee. This period may feel overwhelming at times—like everything is just too much. And honestly, it likely is. Pisces reminds us we're not meant to handle it all alone. Sometimes, life gives us more than we can manage, precisely so we'll reach out, look beyond ourselves, and connect with something greater.
That is REAL spirituality—the kind that puts people before ideas not ideas before people. The grace of Pisces is revealed when we surrender control, certainty, and ego. But grace isn't separate from life's struggles; it's forged through the grit. It's found in facing discomfort, leaning into hard truths, and staying present through life's messiness.
Grace comes when we let challenges soften us rather than harden us, transforming struggle into wisdom. Pisces reminds us that grace is born from showing up, embracing life's complexity, and finding beauty and meaning in the process—not just for ourselves, but for the collective good.
“If we don’t humanize our spirituality, how will we humanize our world?
We don’t need more disembodied men meditating in caves while the village suffers. We need embodied humans healing together, communing, and exploring the relational field as the grist for our spiritual development. We need accomplishment to become a relational construct; that is, we co-create together, with mutual benefit as our shared goal. We need models that lead us back into our hearts, into a deep and reverential regard for the self.”
